Storage Erith Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Storage Erith in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the actions we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Erith provides storage and related services and recognises its responsibility to conduct business ethically, transparently, and in accordance with applicable laws.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Erith maintains a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, child labour, and labour exploitation. We are committed to acting with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place in any part of our business or supply chains.
All employees, contractors, and suppliers are expected to comply with this policy. Any breach is treated as a serious matter that may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, or referral to the relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Erith operates storage facilities and associated services. Our supply chains include providers of building maintenance, security, cleaning, IT and technology, utilities, equipment, and professional services. We recognise that certain sectors and regions may present higher risks of modern slavery and we work to identify and manage those risks proactively.
Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We conduct risk-based assessments of our operations and supply chains to identify where the risk of modern slavery may be higher. Factors considered include the nature of goods and services, geographic location, and the type of labour used. Where heightened risk is identified, we undertake enhanced due diligence and more frequent monitoring.
Due diligence measures may include obtaining information on supplier policies and practices, reviewing modern slavery statements or equivalent documents where available, and assessing the robustness of their employment and recruitment processes.
Supplier Standards and Audits
Storage Erith expects all suppliers to uphold the same high standards we set for ourselves. We require suppliers, where appropriate and proportionate, to confirm their compliance with modern slavery legislation and our zero-tolerance stance.
We undertake supplier audits on a risk basis to verify compliance with our standards. These audits may be conducted through questionnaires, document checks, and where necessary, on-site visits. Non-compliance or inadequate responses require corrective action plans within defined timeframes. Persistent non-compliance or refusal to implement corrective actions may result in the suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
Storage Erith provides training and guidance to relevant employees so they understand the signs of modern slavery and the actions to take if concerns arise. Induction programs for new staff include an overview of our ethical standards and this Modern Slavery Statement. Refresher information is provided periodically and when policies are updated.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised through established internal reporting routes, including line management, senior management, and designated reporting channels set out in company policies.
Reports are treated seriously and, where possible, confidentially. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith. All concerns raised are reviewed and investigated appropriately, with remedial steps taken where needed.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
Storage Erith is committed to continually improving its approach to preventing modern slavery. We monitor the effectiveness of our controls by reviewing supplier performance, audit outcomes, investigation findings, and feedback from stakeholders.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains current, effective, and aligned with best practice and legal requirements. Where necessary, we update our policies, procedures, and training to strengthen our safeguards.
Approval of this Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the leadership of Storage Erith, who are responsible for ensuring its implementation across the business. It reflects our ongoing commitment to ethical conduct, respect for human rights, and the prevention of modern slavery in all its forms.
